Terms of Service

Draft version 2026-07-24

This is a structural draft reflecting the platform's actual business rules. It has not been reviewed by legal counsel and should not be treated as binding until it is.

1. The Service

Junkeze operates a marketplace that connects customers who need junk removed with independent haulers who provide that service. Junkeze is not itself a junk removal company and is never a party to the removal itself — haulers are independent contractors, not Junkeze employees, responsible for their own equipment, labor, and disposal practices.

Junkeze's role is limited to operating the platform: matching customers with haulers, processing payment, and providing support and dispute resolution. Junkeze does not take possession, control, or ownership of any item at any point — items pass directly between customer and hauler, as described in Sections 3 and 4.

2. Accounts and Roles

Every account is either a customer or hauler account. By accepting these terms during role selection, you agree to the responsibilities of that role as described below — and each time a customer posts a job or a hauler accepts one, both reaffirm those responsibilities for that specific job, including the ownership and disposal terms in Sections 3 and 4.

3. Customer Responsibilities

Customers agree to provide accurate job details (photos, dimensions, weight, and any hazardous materials), a valid payment method, and safe access to the pickup location. Prices are calculated automatically based on the details provided and are shown in full before a job is posted. Once the assigned hauler picks up the posted items, the customer gives up all ownership of, rights to, and claims on them.

4. Hauler Responsibilities

Haulers must maintain active insurance, complete government-issued photo ID verification, and only accept jobs that fit within their registered vehicle's capacity. Haulers agree to arrive within the scheduled arrival window.

Ownership of a customer's items passes to the hauler at pickup. Junkeze never takes ownership of, or responsibility for, any item at any point before, during, or after a job. The hauler is solely responsible for lawfully disposing of, recycling, donating, or reselling collected items in accordance with local law, and for all associated costs (landfill fees, transportation, etc.). Those costs are already factored into the guaranteed payout shown before a hauler accepts a job, which reimburses the estimated disposal cost for any special-disposal items included.

5. Payments & Payout Timing

Customer payment methods are saved at job posting and charged 24 hours after a hauler accepts the job. Haulers receive 70% of the job price; Junkeze retains 30% as a platform fee. Payouts are processed via Stripe Connect.

To protect both parties, a hauler's payment is held in escrow after a job is completed and released on a weekly payday (Fridays) as follows:

  • When the hauler marks a job complete, they upload photos of the pickup and the customer is emailed a link to acknowledge it and leave a review.
  • If the customer acknowledges the pickup, the payment is released on the next payday, following a short window during which a problem can still be reported.
  • If the customer does not respond, the payment is held for one week so the customer can report a problem. If no dispute is opened during that week, the payment is released on the next payday.
  • If a dispute is opened during either window, the payment is held until Junkeze resolves it (see Disputes below).

Haulers acknowledge and agree to this hold-and-release schedule as a condition of accepting jobs on the platform.

6. Scheduling & Reschedules

Jobs must be scheduled at least 48 hours in advance. Before a hauler accepts, a customer may reschedule to any new date (also at least 48 hours out) at no charge. Once a hauler has accepted, a customer who wants to reschedule proposes three preferred date/time options and pays a $25 reschedule fee, which is added to the hauler's pay; the hauler then selects one of the three, or declines — in which case the fee is refunded and the job is reopened for another hauler.

7. Cancellations

Customers may cancel before a hauler accepts at no charge. Cancelling within 24 hours of acceptance results in a full refund. Cancelling after 24 hours incurs a $100 fee, split between the hauler and the platform.

8. Disputes

Customers may open a dispute at any time while a completed job's payment is still held in escrow — that is, during the one-week window if they have not acknowledged the pickup, or during the short window after acknowledging it. Once the payment has been released to the hauler, the dispute window has closed. Junkeze will review any dispute and may issue a full or partial refund at its discretion, and payment to the hauler is held until the dispute is resolved.

9. Termination

Junkeze may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, including haulers with repeated no-shows or customers who repeatedly dispute in bad faith.

10. Changes to These Terms

Junkeze may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of the platform after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
